The Foundation of the Ministry
INTEGRITY
Harvest Ministries' roots stemmed from the Azusa Street Revival of 1907. It has been reported that C.H. Mason, founder of the Church of God in Christ, sent a team of evangelists to establish other churches of God in Christ after its birth in 1907. An affiliate of the Church of God in Christ, Bishop E. Davis, established one of the first holiness churches in Savannah Georgia in 1924.
Bishop M.S. Bennett, who was saved under Bishop E. Davis' ministry, established other churches in Georgia and South Carolina. In the early 1950's Apostle Isaiah Revills was appointed pastor of a church in Milledgeville, Georgia. As directed by the Holy Spirit, Apostle Revills began to conduct tent meeting crusades and establishing other churches in Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, North and South Carolina, and later into California and Illinois.
In September of 1973, Apostle Revills established a church in Beaufort, S.C. Howard and Julia became members of the Independent Holiness Deliverance Churches under the leadership of Apostle Revills in 1975. Julia acknowledged the called to ministry in 1978, and Howard in 1980. In September 1982, Howard and Julia were sent to Chicago, Illinois where Julia served as pastor of the Chicago Holiness Deliverance Temple. They served faithfully until the birthing of Joyful Harvest Christian Ministry in January 1989 and Howard served as senior pastor and Julia as administrative pastor.
On the first Sunday in January 1989 the first service was held in the home of the pastors at 133 E. Marquette #2, Chicago, Il. In 1990, the services moved to 920 W. 69th street and Harvest Ministries shared space with Zion City M.B. church. In March of 1994, God made room for the ministry at 2502 W. 63rd street and there we grew in wisdom and anointing for ten years. On March 21, 2004 the Harvest Ministries upon concluding a "New Dimension Celebration", the ministry embraced the idea of merging with United Faith Church at 6201 S. Marshfield. The next twenty-one months (April 1, 2004-Dec. Dec. 4, 2005) proved to be a time of testing and cleansing by the hand of the Father, through His Son.
On January 1, 2006 the worship services moved to the location of 12642 S. Massasoit Ave, Palos Heights, Il, where we shared space with Faith Lutheran Church. We moved to 12762 S. Halsted in March 2009.
