Understanding Times & Seasons
And of the children of Issachar, which were men
that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do, the heads
of them were two hundred, and all their brethren were at their commandment. 1
Chronicles 12:32
We are in a Time & Season
" When the hands of our
leader becomes heavy, we are to be as Aaron and Hur, one on one side and one on
the other side, so that their hands are steady and the battle is won.
" We
are to strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble and tottering
knees.
" We are to speak to those who are of a fearful and hasty heart to be
strong and fear not. These are the times we are to pray without ceasing for our
brothers and sisters in Christ. It is time to put away all bitterness and lay
aside every weight that would keep us from pursing our purpose in God.
But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write
unto you.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh
as a thief in the night. br>< 1 Thessalonians 5:1 & 2
" We are
to edify one another, cover our leader, brothers and sisters with prayer.
"
We are to be consistent in the prayer for the body of Christ.
We hear in
the news of the things that are happening in the land, people are dying
everyday; therefore we as the body of Christ are to pray in unity, with one
heart and strength for our land to be healed. We see that the there are some in
the church that are compromising and there is a great falling away. It is time
for us to be a strength and support to those who are in need of help!
I
exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and
giving of thanks, be made for all men. 1 Timothy 3:1
In Luke 10:38-42, Jesus entered the home of Martha,
where she and her sister Mary were after their brother Lazarus had died. Mary
sat at Jesus' feet, and listened to his word. However, Martha was burdened with
the work she had to do and mentioned this to Jesus by asking him if he did not
care that her sister had left her alone to serve, and then requested him to have
Mary to come and help her. Jesus responded by letting Martha know that she was
engulfed in work which manifested itself as impatience, and went on to explain
that Mary had made the devote and right choice.
There are two categories
of those who serve; one is a working servant, and the other who serves as a
worker. A working servant approaches serving with the attitude that "this is
being done to bring glory to God", and "I am being recreated in the image of my
Lord". One, who serves as a worker, does things for recognition and when they
don't get the recognition they are angry, hurt, and upset. They sound a trumpet
to let everyone know what they have done, and they seldom take the initiative to
do things or it is done half-heartedly without the spirit of excellence. Those
who serve as workers are those who make excuses for what is not done, or will be
quick to point out the fault of someone who has "missed the mark" and are no
better than they are.
1. Which category do you fit? Are you a worker or
a servant?
2. Is it possible for someone who is serving as a worker to
become a working servant?
